KICK out the 'BAD HOSTS' or' BAD GUESTS' off the platform.....Why ? because!!!

So the constant excuses that airbnb is just a booking platform!

My thoughts are airbnb need more security and quality control: Why not employ quality controllers to verify more listings, personally visit listings and tick off the list. Why subject so many bad experiences whom go out to file serial complaints and air it out continuously. Its a big task but it should be achievable. Major brands have high quality controls in place.

People are not only airing their experiences on this forum, they are airing and rating airbnb on product review websites which can afffect others whom did a good job in hosting or was a good guest/guests.

Quality control is needed and not by just both sides reviewing!

What are your thoughts, community?

@Syl11 Yes! And, if AirBnb is JUST a booking platform facilitating and linking up hosts and guests, then we hosts should have more control over damage fees and the such.

I would like to see a real security and damage deposit become possible, whereby guests agree to it by clicking they understand and agree, making easier for us to collect damages. Of course, I'm sure there would be some abuse by some dishonest hosts, but we all know there is a lot of abuse with the current system by dishonest, lazy or sloppy guests.

@John1080  Sorry about your recent bad guests, I have had my share of those as well! Hospitality is one of the most difficult jobs and when people pay money to stay, some abuse the system trying to justify why they paid the prices. Most are decent and professional though. I have had people bring in buckets of sand creating a sandpit inside the shower for kids to play, can one imagine the plumbing system having to be repaired afterwards. People dump cooking oil into kitchen sinks, do people know OIL rise to the top in drainage systems?, one guest decided my place was a hotel, left the AC, air coolers, fans on 24/7 over 4 weeks....did i stop them, NO! I don't want to tell people how to behave but I simply keep adding to my house rules until it starts to look like "STUPID".....yep some people are S........!!!

This' new cancellation policies' are designed for airbnb added boutique hotels/hotels to be inline with hotels cancellations. Its crap for traditional hosts.

Note the airbnb marketing MD for ANZ is now moving on to his new job  for the hotel chain Shangri La HK, I have guests whom had collegues whom booked with hosts but because of some construction work nearby, they get moved to Shangri La Hotels...........nice one airbnb......!!!

@Syl11    Totally off the topic, but just a trick for you for guests who dump oil down the drains- if you put some coffee grounds down the drains on a regular basis, it binds to the oil and moves it through the system and scours the piping clean of oil residue.

@Syl11 Wow, some serious situations! Laughed at the sand in the shower, although I’m sure it wasn’t funny at the time! Who are these people?! Unbelievable how some people live.

@John1080  gotta LOL it off eventually, there are worst, this is nothing compared to another two, Can't tell because its just eally bad, I have to insure myself which i am insured! I'm going to write a short stories book and it will sell and then we should be in airbnb housewives/house men! Lets do a pilot and film our S experiences!

@Syl11  HA/VRBO have a program that hosts don't even realize is a quality control program lol. It's called Invite the BEAR.

The VRBO Bear Stayed Here Program

How it works:

  • Step 1 - Fill out the form to invite the VRBO Bear to review your property.
  • Step 2 - When a VRBO/HomeAway employee and the Bear are traveling to your area, they will send you a personalized email with specific dates.
  • Step 3 - You as the property owner provide a complimentary stay to the Bear and an employee with their friends or family.
  • Step 4 - The employee pays your customary cleaning fee and refundable deposit.
  • Step 5 - You and the employee confirm the reservation and provide a written contract or check-in/check-out details and expectations.

What you get:

  • Personalized review of your property and a photo of the VRBO Bear’s visit will be added to your listing.
  • Unique Bear Stay icon displayed next to your listing on the search results/index pages.
  • Placement on the VRBO Stayed Here page which will link back to your listing and drive new visitors to your ad.
  • Complete evaluation of your property listing. This is a confidential evaluation that will be emailed to only you once the stay is completed.

@Letti0  I like the idea of the airbnb plus verified idea, or the early airbnb years whereby airbnb sent their team in to verify with pictures etc. This will allow more transparency for guests, less complaints from guests who air their dislike in product review sites.

@Letti0  don't have VBRO here, I don't think i can do anymore home sharing sites, one is enough, hospitality isn't my forte, LOL I'm going to head back to a career that is more rewarding! LOL, ' for  'S' for ***T, 'S' for ***K, 'S' for *****D
