One off laundry

One off laundry

Hi

I’ve got guests booked who are asking for linen and towels which i don’t provide. Can I add a one off laundry charge to their booking and if so how?

If you state in your listing that you don't provide linen and towels, you can create a special offer to include the cost  @Elizabeth-Anne2

@Elizabeth-Anne2  You can use the Special Offer feature if you're still in the Inquiry phase. If the booking has already been made, you can ask for money via airbnb.com/resolutions .

I'm sure these won't be the last guests who choose not to travel with bed linens and towels, so it would be helpful to state in your listing what the additional cost for these items will be. The listing should also be clear about the dimensions of the bed and duvet. Guests won't be very happy if the linens they bring from home aren't the correct size. And of course, guests whose linens don't match your bed  size are better off booking somewhere else altogether.

I’ve had plenty of bookings all who have brought their own and yes always state bed sizes. Stopped doing it when it was left covered in dog hair and excrement. Not pleasant to remove from beds and totally unusable again!

Hello @Elizabeth-Anne2

Airbnb strongly encourage hosts to provide essential amenities in all their listings, as these are the items guests tell us they consider important for a comfortable stay. This includes toilet paper, hand and body soap, towels, linens, and pillows. Find out more about essential amenities.

Essential amenities are the basic items that a guest expects in order to have a comfortable stay. These include:

  • Toilet paper
  • Soap (for hands and body)
  • One towel per guest
  • One pillow per guest
  • Linens for each guest bed

Recommended quantities of each item depends on the number of guests and the length of their stay. For longer stays, if you provide extras of each amenity, this ensures guests have everything they need.

You can decide whether you want to make each guest bed or leave the bed linens neatly stacked. We encourage hosts to communicate with your guests during the booking process to get their preference.

If you do not wish to have them in the ad, you can disable them and request an additional cost by mentioning in the HOUSE RULES and in the description of the ad, to see the guests and before booking with you.

Have a wonderful summer, @Elizabeth-Anne2 !

Pillows duvets soap loo roll washing up liquid etc etc all provided only linen and towels not as it was constantly left covered in dog hair and several occasions covered in dog excrement. Not at all pleasant and why I stopped it!

Hi @Elizabeth-Anne2 🙂

I think it is expected to provide bedlinens and towels in Airbnbs. I know it isn't in classic old fashioned vacantion rentals. But it definitely is in Airbnbs and it is included in the total price. So also different than classic vacation rentals. If you want to prevent damages you can always write in your houserules that dogs are not allowed in the beds/bedrooms and if bedlinen/towels are ruined you will need to charge for that through the security deposit. I think most guests will then think twice before ruining your towels/linnen.

If you decide not to provide linnen and towels make sure to spell it out very clearly as I think most guests will expect it is included 🙂

Cute bungalow, @Elizabeth-Anne2 !  Given that your decision to not supply linens is clearly stated and shown in your pictures, it seems that this amenity plan works for your location.  I would imagine that your guests our people who drive in, rather than international guests that have to contend with airplane baggage limitations.

I am curious why you would consider supplying linens as a one off for a price, however.  Seems your reasons for not supplying make sense in your bungalow.  However I wonder if you added whatever cost you would charge on a one off for linens (included in a small price hike and a cleaning fee) and just used a linen service it would work for you.

It might expand your guest base.  Just a thought.
