Unable to stop declined/cancelled guest booking again

I spoke to Airbnb about this but did not reach a satisfactory conclusion.

I received a reservation (Instant Booking) from a young chap who's only review was "left the place in a complete state" so declined him and apologised saying it was due to his poor rating.  I then received a text from him saying it was just for him and his girlfriend, that he'll be good and he then re-booked the same date again.

It then became apparent that unless I turn off Instant Booking (which I don't want to do) there's nothing I can do to stop him re-booking every time I decline him!  If I cancel him again bang goes any Superhost ambitions. I also enquired about setting a security deposit on his reservation but that cannot be done after the booking is made.  Blocking or reporting him for this type of situation was not an option either.

Does this seem like a glitch in the system to anyone?  The only viable alternative in the end was to accept his booking and stress the house rules etc and hope he doesn't trash the place.

@Giedre-and-Andre0, I'm the same as you. I have very strict rules and reiterate them several times to make sure they hit home. If this drives a few people away, so be it, because I figure they would be the ones who wouldn't follow my policies in the first place.

@Barry145  I hope when you review him that you make it really clear that you gave him a chance, despite having only one review that addressed the mess he left behind him. That you gave him that chance based on his assurance that he would behave himself appropriately, but that he did no such thing.

Just had to decline someone who had broken 3house rules from previous stay.He was the abusive and I reported him BUT he should be blocked from booking my place ever again.

However I can’t do this as there is no facility to do so

Your only option in future is to check the box that only allows recommended guests to book instantly.  I have done that but it's too early to say if it has affected bookings.

As a post-script to the guest referred to originally in this thread he also purchased a £20 pay-per-view boxing match via my cable and said he'd leave the money - he didn't but in fairness to Airbnb who couldn't get it off him they reimbursed me anyway.

Can I ask why you accepted the guest after all the red flags and advice, rather than just asking Airbnb to cancel the booking @Barry145

I do hope you left him an honest review to warn other hosts including the pay for view incident (you obivously need to change the settings to avoid this with future guests).
