Unclean Guests

Hi all,

Looking for advice. We had a booking guest book for 28 nights for 2 adults and 1 child. I have just been to the property and I'm really disgusted as to how our home was left. The heating had been left on and also several lights. There was food left out in the living areas and kitchen. There was open/spilled food in the cupboards and stains on the couch (from food I assume!). Every utensil, glass and cup was dirty. What really bothered me was how they seemed to have swept with a bush all the crumbs from the past month into a few corners in the house. Every mirror and cupboard has food/grease stains.

I am working how to feedback on their stay and also if I should be charging them an extra cleaning fee as the turnaround is going to take twice as long given the mess. 

Any advice appreciated!

Your home is lovely and your description very welcoming, @Claire637 .  I did notice that under your rules you invite your guests to treat the home "as if it was their own".  Perhaps you have posted rules in the house but you might not be able to get extra cleaning fee from the security deposit unless the guest obviously created damage by the slovenly way in which they treated your home.

Of course you would not recommend the guest so your thumbs down review should include a short description of the guest treatment of the space requiring additional costly cleaning.  Other hosts will benefit from your honest review but unfortunately you will not.
