from the message, I thought the guest had booked for himself and a partner, but he had booked for his parents, and in actual fact 3 people slept in the space which is only intended for 2.  They were charming people, but I do not think that this is the spirit of airbnb

It is not allowed on Airbnb to book for somebody else, so the guest violated the terms.

Also the booking must contain the right amount of guests, and there should not be more guests staying then the maximum amount stated in the listing. You could have called Airbnb for (penaltyfree) cancellation of this reservation.

thanks so much.  I will  make sure that the guest knows about this. thanks again

@Terry357

I have had a number of what turn out to be third party bookings.  They can turn sour and Airbnb do not cover them (business listings may have different rules).

I write in  rules or things to note, and sometimes in my messages to guests:

- No third party bookings.

- Only guests on the reservation are allowed access

- Maximum number of guests:  Two (2)

I do have some guests who are upfront about it and I ask them to have their friends, parents or children set up their own verified accounts.

  Yes, thank you very much,   Ange.  I will go back to my profile and make sure the points you raised have been included. terry
