weekly price overriding higher day price

Hello,

Today I had a request for a 9 day stay - the price quoted to them is based our weekly discounted price. However, the stay was over the Easter weekend where we have a slightly higher day price than usual. What I didn't realise is that regardless of when a guest is booking, the higher day rate is overridden by the weekly rate. I would like to offer a discounted weekly price but not if it overides the higher pricing for a day. I wouldn't normally mind but the price difference in this was £110 and as we are quite a low cost rental its a big difference.

Have other people had this problem? The only way I have tried to resolve it is decline the request and then explain and send a slightly higher (but still discounted) special offer rate and hope they book. It's less than ideal.

How have others resolved this? I feel inclined to get rid of my weekly price.

Yes, this is a wonky system. You are right that the weekly rate does override, so it's really best utilized in a listing where it's unlikely you'll do special event pricing.  I would decline the guest with an explanation, offer him a reduction, and if he books great.  He probably won't, but that's too bad but you will at least have your pricing reflect what you want for your listing on those dates.

Now that you've reminded me of this, I am going to double check that I don't have weekly pricing on my listings for next New Years Eve!

Maybe there is a way to override weekly pricing on certain calendar days, but I've never seen that setting.  Anyone else have any input on this?

You can set higher weekly rates but it doesnt work too well always

Go into manage your listing on a laptop then to pricing (under calendar) then you will see the option to set prices for specific weeks. The problem is if the previous week is cheaper it will charge that rate if someone books crossing two weeks. I had set my pricing for websummit week but not upped it the week before. As a result one Polish girl got a very very good rate. She was a lovely person and I was happy to have her so it worked out but be warned.

I've found that the best way to deal with the wonky airbnb calendar is to custom price each day and avoid the extra options. I had too many issues in the beginning of one thing overriding the other. You can always offer a discount when someone asks or when someone books for a certain length of stay. But I have to say that we don't offer any discount on extended stays and we have no problem staying booked.
