The concept of a one night surcharge

The concept of a one night surcharge

I find it very difficult to clearly convey to guests that we charge a slightly higher rate, a surcharge, for a one night stay.

Many properties don't allow a one night stay so, in doing so, we are trying to comfortably accommodate the many folk who are passing through, don't have much time and so need to stay just overnight.

However, given the way that most websites are designed ie with the price shown as so much per night, it is sometimes quite difficult as folk note the price shown very obviously on the listing but choose not to read on where we do describe our one night surcharge.

So, then I have to explain and, for a few people, this comes as a surprise.

Perhaps airbnb can have a one night stay charge tag or section which is more obvious and clearly 'up front'.

Thank you.

I can't see a problem with one nighters, you don't have to accept.

Yes I HAve tried to contact airbnb about a supplement charge for 1 night stays also!  IT'S a beer option for guests than having a minimum 2 night stay. PLEASE  ABNB help us with this. TKS Jenni in Godalmig.

Totally agree! Best idea on this forum yet!

Yes agree - should have extra pricing options available and clear, we would use it for taxes also as this is a requirement for us!

The cleaning fee is essentially a surcharge on one-night stays. Just set it higher to achieve the same objective.

Why not just charge a cleaning fee?  That not only bumps up for a one night stay over a two night, but a two night over a three night, etc. etc.  A cleaning fee is essentially a turnover charge.

Yes, I like to see a one night stay surcharge too. I'd like to charge cheaper prices for people who book in advance but not people who are booking the same day.

I just submitted the same suggestion "a one night surcharge option"  to airbnb. It's a win win for all. For guest to come across all lisitings and make their choice, AirBnb getting their fees when booked and the host being valued for the work they do for one nighters.
