Advice from non native hosts

Hi there AirBnB hosts! 

I'm a complete newbie so please be patnient with me! Apologies If this question has been asked before.

Are there any people here who run an AirBnB in southern Europe (particularely in France, Italy or Switzerland) but arent originally from there?

If so, would you be able to share some advice or stories regarding the interacion with the local community? I'm particularely interested in learning more about possible negative or hostile reactions from locals in regards to you setting up your BnB. Did you come across hostility due to the fact that the local population perceived you as an outsider who came and stole their business? How did southern Europeans react to you setting up shop? Any negative experiences with local councils, mayors or communities working against you etc. 

Any stories and/or tips would be extremely welcome. Thank you so much!
