Airbnb user booking for her boss.

Wondering how my fellow hosts handle situations where the person who requests to book isn't the one actually staying in the apartment. We've had this happen multiple times, mostly millenials booking for their parents or business related bookings. We don't like to do any communication outside of Airbnb and will kindly direct people back to the website or app when they text or email. Our upcoming guest just sent a list of names and numbers for me to "coordinate with". My impulse is to tell her that we would like to communicate with her via airbnb and let her do the coordination.

I know that Airbnb says this...

"we require that Airbnb reservations are booked by the person who's going to stay at the listing. For the same reason, you’ll need to be an authorized user of whatever credit card—or other payment method—you use to pay for a reservation."

This person instant booked. Is there a point when making a reservation where Airbnb reminds guests that they cannot book for other people? Any tips would be helpful.

@Queen1 @Emily140 I wouldn't try the hidden camera thing. Please see Airbnb rules below:

Our standards and expectations require that all members of the Airbnb community respect each other’s privacy. More specifically, we require hosts to disclose all surveillance devices in their listings, and we prohibit any surveillance devices in certain private spaces (such as bedrooms and bathrooms) regardless of whether they’ve been disclosed.

1. install in living room or kitchen (it has benefits of preventing theft etc.)

2. disclose to airbnb (does it mean only airbnb knows about it, but not the guest?)

@Queen1 There is a long description on the help section but in a nutshell yes, you do have to disclose info on your devices:

If you’re a host and you have any type of surveillance device in or around a listing, even if it’s not turned on or hooked up, we require that you let guests know by including this information clearly in your listing description and photographs. If a host discloses the device after booking, Airbnb will allow the guest to cancel the reservation and receive a refund. Host cancellation penalties may apply.

It'll be a big turn off for some potential guests I think. Not that they would want to do anything bad, they just wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

@Monika64  okay, i guess i am just different, because most of the time i live under some survelliance be it cam or else. In fact, there is no privacy in either US or UK, the surv can see the mole in face with no prob. Nowadays, only when you live in a mountain, prob you can avoid surv. Just an idea, you defnitely do not need to follow.

@Queen1 I completely understand, I was just pointing you to Airbnb policy as we are trying to avoid potential guests (3rd party bookers) who in fact break Airbnb policies. Breaking this Airbnb policy would not make us any better 😞 Anyone can, of course, install cameras (and many hosts do) but I saw reviews where avarage guests were stating if they have known about the cameras they would have never booked. So being up front about them is the best (and the policy).

@Monika64 and I thought level 10 was when I become clear and have lunch with Tom 🙂

@Bruce43   who is tom?

Not you @Bruce43 of course! 🙂 I was refering to "other" people (wink, wink)  who stated here before that they clearly have to get a life :-))) Like they are not already so busy with hosting their wonderful place, serving wine and cheese plates, raking up 5 star reviews and taking care of their garden 🙂 plus 65 other things daily 🙂

I just started out Level 1 a little while back, I clearly have to stop coming over here before I hit Level 10 and end up like them :-)))))

@Queen1 I'm not convinced your listing is legitimate, and please nobody follow Queen's advice, as it is not the way to handle a 3rd party booking situation.

I feel it is quite funny :))

when airbnb came into power, hotels hate airbnb, when uber came into power, taxi hates uber,  when they can't beat the latters, they are getting smarter and taking advantage of the newcomer.

now when shared bikes came into power, taxi and uber start to hate the bikes again, yet, they have a problem taking advantage of the bikes, because there is a fundamental difference they can't overcome.
