Argh It's Ramadan!

Argh It's Ramadan!

June is the worst time for Ramadan to fall in Seattle

We have such longgggg days.

My sweet Muslim guests don't eat until after 9 pm and their predawm meal is at 3:00 am!

Needless to say, it upsets the household schedule.

They laze around all day in my house, conserving their energy, then are active late at night.

I know I'm supposed to celebrate religious freedom and I do - theoretically.

I used to house Muslim Arab students and I dreaded Ramadan.

Am I a bad person?

Yes, @Paul154...:D  Just kidding!  I have never hosted Muslim guests during Ramadan however, I have hosted young people attending huge music festivals and have a similar schedule with them 😛 however it is only for a 3 day period for each festival, so I can recover later.  Thanks for posting as I would never had known about this.

Hi @Paul154, you're not a bad person, ANNNND if you KNEW this was coming, SNOOZE your property!  Be unavailable!

If you're still stuck with guests--enjoy the festivities! (and sleep in tomorrow... or whenever they leave.)

Best!

Kim

Hi,

Try it out with them - see what hardships they endure.

The principle of fasting is meant to remind us of those less fortunate around us and to live life with more tollerace and harmony.

Aside from that there are a few health benefits from fasting too - but as a non muslim, you can sneak in a drink of water or two 🙂

You'd be amazed at how humbling an experience it is.
