Automate checking instructions sending a week before arrival

Dear Community,

I have seen a message a few days ago on Airbnb about a new feature, and I thought it was about automatic documents sending by Airbnb a week before guests' arrival. This seems handy since I'm sending check-in documents and house manuals to guests manually at the moment (pictures help more than words, so I prefer PDF to the sections on Airbnb). However I'm unable to find the access to this new feature anymore. Or maybe I just misunderstood it for something else?

Thanks for any tips!

Best,

Violet

Hi Violet

I am in the same position as you. I can see the option to add the instructions when in my listing on the mobile app, but cannot find it on the website version. My instructions are rather elaborate and I am trying to avoid having to type it out on my phone.

Did you find it?

@Violet0:

I have not been able to find this new option either (http://blog.atairbnb.com/check-in). @Jeanette it seems to me from the blog that it is a smartphone related feature  (pictures of phone screens, and "...Grab your smartphone and add your check-in instructions now...."). That, of course, doesn't mean that it wouldn't be great if it could be done on the computer as well. Having said that, I have an iphone and ipad and I can not see the option. Not even after updating the app :S.

Does anyone know why?

Thanks

I'm in this same boat! I have a call into airbnb to try and get some answers; but have yet to hear.

Hi Cat,

On the mobile app go to your listing, scroll down to Guest resources area. You should be able to click on "check in instruction" text to access it and modify it.

This is on Android, hope on Iphone is the same,

Hope this helps.

Paul, any idea when a guest would have access to check-in instructions ? Thanks

Hello @Bill144,

They get access as soon as their reservation request is confirmed.

Steve.

Hi, are the guests notified of the check in instructions? How do they find it on their side? I normally let guests know to look for it, but I forgot with my most recent guest and she is having trouble! I feel terrible but was under the impression she should have instructions available even if they don't have wifi.

Thanks, Katie

Wanted to kick in my two cents on this as I've been using this feature regularly now (or trying to anyway).

1.  The instructions can only be entered on the app; there is no link on the website (frustrating).

2.  The instructions do not show up until within 2 days of the trip starting.

3.  No matter what you do the way it's currently set up, the majority of guests will not use these check in instructions.  I have prodded, begged, sent picture of where to click in the app, it just rarely turns out that guest actually clicks on the instructions and then eventually clicks 'Check in.'  Unless Airbnb adds a way to send a 'Check-In Instructions' link in the messaging chat, I don't see this feature working reliably.  I'm honestly about to turn it off, and I'm mad, becaues it would make my life 1,000x easier to not send out multiple pictures and messages for every booking.

@Tony134

Any update on this thread? I have run into the same challenge that Airbnb guests have never seen the checkin instructions on their app. Also, a lot of them do not have access to data/internet when travelling.

It is a neat feature, but not very effective.

Someone upvoted me on this post, just like to point out for Laura Chambers sake (who turned out to be the 100% evil disaster I told you all she would be), I pointed out to Airbnb how to fix this issue.  As usual, they were happy to take my suggestion, but too good to pay for the work someone else did becuase they can't be bothered to hire competant people.
