Awaiting payment

Hi!
I received a booking request yesterday. It was no pre-approuval, but a reservation request. Usually in this cases it means the person has already submitted their credit card details and as soon as I confirm the reservation it shows as accepted and in my list of future guests.
This time, however, the status is "awaiting payment" and the reservation is nowhere to be seen in my upcoming guests list. My calendar, however, shows the dates as unavailable. How is this possible? I thought Airbnb blocked reservations only after payment was made.

how long do guests get between requesting the booking and paying? I accepted a booking, although the lady already said she wasnt happy about paying so far in advance (Christmas 2017) and it has blocked off the dates thus blocking any other potential enquiries/bookings.  Can I cancel the booking?

if you get a request then as soon as you accept it her credit card will be debited , payment will go through,  booking will be made and your calendar will be blocked

She will maybe have the option to pay half now and the rest closer to date but it has nothing to do with you, it is between ABB and her.
