Be sure to check travel amenities before next guests arrive - might be used & put back

Be sure to check any travel amenities you offer to ensure they haven't been used but put back for the next guest to find. My latest guests arrived last night and while cleaning the guest bathroom this morning I found both disposable razors I provide in the trash with the covers still on. Curious as to why they were not used and thrown away, I removed the covers to find one new but one had clearly been previously used - I assume by a former guest who then put the cover back on and placed it back into the travel amenities tray. My latest guests must have gone to use it, found it dirty/used, and thrown them both away (rightly so.) In the past, I've discovered the travel deodorant used and put back in the same way - which I immediately replaced with a fresh one and started always checking it after each guest leaves. But it never occurred to me that a razor would be used and put back because who would do that? It's unsafe.

Great. So now I'll probably get a bad review due to the dirty/used razor despite every other aspect of my home being its usual top condition. Why the previous guest did this rotten thing, I don't know but I've noticed many of my latest guests to be sub-par which is why I'm no longer hosting - just finishing the last few who already booked. So thankfully the bad review my latest guests will probably leave will disappear when I delete this listing. That will feel wonderful 🙂

That is why I personally clean each book and cranny of the bedroom and bathroom myself and carefully inspect that ALL packaging of toiletries etc are all intact.

I go through each drawer of the bedroom storage, I look under the bed, under the mat everywhere so NO stone is left unturned prior to the next guest arriving

I think generally it's a good idea to keep things simple and don't offer too many things as part of your deal. The fewer things you have on offer, the fewer things can go wrong. If you didn't offer bathroom things (razors, deodorant, maybe a spare toothbrush) they couldn't get mis-used in the way you describe. It's sad but true.
