Blocking out Dates

Question.

We have a unit that we only rent out for the summer months (it's at the base of a ski resort) (in winter we rent it to full-time staff, to save a lot of cleaning) so I have blocked it as unavailable for the entire duration. HOWEVER people are still booking, and miraculously the dates they want in the calender become available? What am I missing here? Thanks in advance, Simon B

@Simon149 I would advise setting your Booking Window under Availability Settings to "Dates Unavailable by Default".  Then, you can go back and unblock dates you want to have available for bookings.  This will ensure that you do not have any surprise dates become available.

Hi @Simon149 When I look at your listing, it has wide open availability from now until June 10. It is blocked (no one can book) from June 11-30, blocked for all of July except the 31st, and blocked for all of August except for the 1-6. Is there a chance you did it opposite than the way you intended? i.e. blocked the available dates, and opened up the unavailable dates?

Make sure when you select the dates to block that you hit "Blocked" & then "Save Changes". You can see which dates are blocked & which are open by looking at your calendar. If you've done this & the blocking isn't saving, you'll need to contact Airbnb - it might be a glitch of some kind. All ways to contact Airbnb are HERE. Hope that helps! - Karen

Thanks so much Karen (Sorry meant to get back to you earlier!) I have had four attempts at blocking out the first week of June to the first week of October) - and yet people STILL are booking any time thet see fit??. Have been through the avialbilty a number of times and cannot see one hole in the diary at all?? Thinking it's in the glitch department!

Bit perplexed and annoyed! - Gagh!

I am having the same problem, & unfortunatley Airbnb is penalizing ME! I already have my settings as "unavailable by default" and yet multiple people have booked dates that are not available. Have you found any answers?

@Eleanor25 Airbnb is aware that sometimes blocked dates are becoming available resulting in unwanted reservations.  If you need to cancel a reservation that was booked under these circumstances, contact Airbnb and they will get things sorted for you.
