@Heather275 In many jourisdictions, it is the law that businesses paying you money must have your social security number to pay you any income. I do not know exactly what is going on because you did not leave details, however, in the United States this is governed by IRS statutes (laws passed by Congress as well).

Your only option is to go "under the table" with listing your place in newspapers or craigslist, etc.
