Article published yesterday in a business news magazine
Despite his claim for repair to the rental platform, as promised by the host guarantee, the parisian host was forced to pay 90,000 euros of work.
He decided to sue Airbnb.
Unfortunately the article does not state why the host and AirBnb could not agree on the indemnity
Link to the article in french
The apocalyptic tone of the title of the article ( "effroyable" meaning "frightful" ) clearly indicates that the Editor in Chief of this magazine holds a grudge against AirBnb.
Uh, this is every host's worst nightmare 😕
More info on this video broadcasted on France's national TV Channel France 2
Apparently the owner did not agree with AirBnb on the amount of work involved
After seeing the video of the ransacked apartment, one can only wonder how the bill could even reach 30 k€, let alone 90 k€ ( we don't see the floor condition though ).
I wonder what happened in those guest's heads? Why they spent all that energy and time to devastate someone's property? Someone who they never met, and who did nothing wrong to them previously. They must be very unhappy with their lives and full of rage towards anyone who has a better life than theirs
It was simply used for prostitution.
AirBnb is pretty much involved in the newer form of prostitution called rotation prostitution where girls from Eastern Europe stay in a AirBnb for one month, then move to another apartment in a city 100 km away for the next month, then to another city etc etc.
Flexibility and anonymity are the key words in modern day prostitution so AirBnb business model fits perfectly with pimps requirements.
Most pimps are not registered on AirBnb but they all have strawmen whose job is to keep a good profile on AirBnb, so that they can manage to rent when and wherever they want ( source : local press articles ) .
this place looks like it was used for fights, not sex
Anyway, I just wonder how many such articles and news hosts have to see to realize they should verify their guests by themselves at arrival? I never understood hosts who give the keys to their properties to total strangers without knowing their identity.

The ransack was probably performed at the end of the stay.
The pimp probably came to collect his dues and was not happy with the girl(s) declared revenues.
The disorder very well look like an intimidation exercise, intended for fightening the ladies.
A free demo of violence like gorilla chest beating
At the expense of the host's furniture.
Mixed the wrong drugs, probably.
Few years ago, after a techno party here, 4 people jumped over a small pedestrian bridge. Naked. The bad news is that no one was injured. They succeeded to escape.
Were these 'guests' (criminals) allowed to leave a review - And also perhaps complain about the host and/or their property and receive a full refund? If so, wouldn't be the first time...
