Guest Check in

Hello community.

I have a guest requesting for a 9am check in despite my listing stating 3pm.

This is not convenient as I may have a late booking from the night previous and I need the turn over time for cleaning etc. I have explained this to the guest but they are still requesting the early time. How do I best manage this?

Thank you for your time.

With warm regards,

Kate

just say no, but of course more tactfully than that! Explain that it is not possible for the reasons you stated. I will sometimes offer to text when the room is ready in case it can be ready a little early.

Thanks so much Deborah. I have done as you suggested.

I usually tell them they are welcome to leave their bags in a closet and come back at check in time. I have found that they are usually amenable to this because they don't want to carry their bags around for a few hours while site-seeing.  Of course it's up to you and what you are comfortable with.  I have read that some hosts do not like doing this because of problems they have had with it such as people wanting to shower, change and go into the room before it is cleaned.  I always make sure that it's a "leave your bags" only situation.

I get these requests a lot, and the answer is the same every time.

If the apartment is available, I will let them in early. If there is a guest checking out that day, they will have to wait until the apartment is available.

If they keep insisting on getting it early, I won't give it to them 1 minute earlier than listed, even if it was available.

Hello,

I have a great location and I am booking so fast. My predicament is this:

A woman asked to check in early as their flight comes in early and they need to rest. At the time, I didn't have any other bookings, so I said it should be fine. I had instant booking on, and a request came in, with the check out being on that day at 12pm. So it is overlapped! I am waiting to hear from the instant booker, as I hope, she can check out early. If not, should I offer her a deal to check out early? Can I do this? If so how? Any other suggestions? Do I invovle Airbnb if the instant booker cannot check out early?  I messed up and I am just trying to fix this and make everyone happy and clean my place up in between. I definitly changed my check in times. I also know now how to answer, in order, to protect myself, in the future. But any suggestions would be helpful.
