Guest damaged floors...now what? Negative review?

I'm in the unfortunate situation of having come home to my flat left in a state that was dismaying. As a frequent airbnb traveler as well, I just couldn't believe what I saw. A torn window shade, scratches and punctures to the floor/dining table bench from high heels, weird stains on the sheets. The most troubling and expensive thing is the floor of course.

The problem is that I had 3 guests while I was out of town. During that time, I had the same cleaner come, and they have confirmed that the damage shown in photos wasn't there before the last guest. I get the feeling that isn't enough to  prove it, or force compensation. What do you think?

Has anyone else had an incident like this? Regardless of the floors, it's obvious she used my place to party, and didn't leave it, as requested "as you found it". I'm guessing that the only recourse I have is a negative review, and she could in turn do the same.

Anyone have any advice? I travel so much for work, that I'm almost too exhausted to deal with it; but I feel taken advantage of and don't feel like she should be let off the hook that easily.

Thanks

I think it's really important that hosts stop fearing leaving a bad review! Hosts that don't expose guests like these to others and the cycle just keeps going on and on.

The downside about this particular case is that you are not 100% sure that these guests damanged your property as you mentioned you were out of town while 3 different guests stayed at your place.

In order to claim through Airbnb you would need photos before and after each guest, with a timestamp or more. I would recommend you to have someone you trust do a full tour of the property once a new guest arrives with the guest and a tour while the guest is checking out.

I am sorry this happened to you and I hope you can do something about this; try the resolution center but don't get your hopes up as you have no real evidence. Have 72 hours of your guest checking out gone by? If not, submit the claim.

If you're 100% sure this guest did it, then please leave a bad review. Just make sure it's neutral, straight and to the point, this way the guest can't request Airbnb to remove it.

First try to go through the resolution center, if things don't go well you can add that to the review. Something like:

Guest damaged the floor and other parts of my property, I wouldn't recommend him/her to another host.
