I need some advice from other hosts.
I rent out an extra room in my house, which that means I am at home when I have guests.
We recently had guests and one of the guests snoared really loud. So loud we had to sleep with earplugs and still heard the snoaring. So we slept bad, lying awake all night and we would not like other hosts to have the same issue.
My question is: how to give fedback to the guest about this, or should I not menion it?
The guest was very friendly, no other issues. Just loud during the night...
When our own night rest is disturbed, I cannot gice an all positive feedback.
Maybe the guest would better book an entire home instead of just a room.
What are your views on this?
As you probably know, snoring is not something the guest can control. If the guest is good is all other ways perhaps your review can be positive and allude to the disturbance like this, "Guest is better served in either a non-shared space or a private bedroom away from other sleepers." Also, send a private message to the guest regarding the disruption of sleep due to the snoring.
"This guest was lovely, but may be suffering from sleep apnea since we heard him throughout the night. He is a good fit for Airbnb, but we recommend him for 'entire home' rentals only. He was perfect in every other way."
I think it is fine to put that in the review. Now the next host knows what they are in for.
If you don't want a freight train sleeping in the next room it's good to know ahead of time.

@Sandra126 and @Zandra0 It's not just the hosts who may be affected in some Airbnbs. Many places I've stayed in rent out multiple bedrooms or suites. If a loud snorer is keeping your other guests awake, you may get bad reviews and that can mean lost income. Saying a guest is "restless throughout the night" gets across the fact that there was a problem without being too mean-spirited. This is a business after all, and if I owned an Airbnb with mulitple rooms, I'd definitely want to know. Airbnb isn't for every person--hotels with better soundproofing would probably be a better option for this guest. There's no shortage of people who want to use Airbnb.
It is not ok at all.
What is the "it" you are saying is not ok?

To clarify (sorry @Mike77😞 It is not ok to say that guests snore.
Some things are not mentioned. Bodily functions is definitely one of those.
Hej Umea! Snark snark! (That is Swedish for ''snore'', Mike...)
Is that a cultural thing? I tell Janet when she snore, she tells me when I snore.
If I read that a guest snores, it would not make a difference to me, as the treehouse is far away from the main house, I would not hear them. But I would want to know if the guest was going to stay in the room next to me. That is just something I would want to know.

@Mike77, What if they only snored now because they had a cold, or had a couple of drinks? Anyway, it will be unlikely that the guest would use their profile again if it mentioned very personal things like that. So Airbnb would lose a profile. And not every house is weak walled. If you were in my guestroom at home (not for rent, just for me) you could do anything you liked, holler and yelp and I would not hear a single thing. Snoring welcome!
I think getting the occasional snorer is a thing hosts have to accept. It will not be the first or the last. Some guests are loud, some are not. Do you want to be a host? Then deal with it. Increase the textiles for sould muffling. Rugs, curtains, anything. Glue eggcartons to the walls, attractive AND sound effective.
Attention all Hosts!
Sandra wants your snorers! She likes grunters also! Yelping ok too! She wants them all!
🙂
You don't get mine, I make them pay extra, so I like them also.
🙂

Oh Dear Darcia! What an interesting thread of comments you have triggered. I must say I am torn between the two different perspectives: Hosts should respect guest privacy and grin and bear it if you get a loud snorer. Or, hosts should warn other hosts of this potential disruption to their sleep.
I seriously doubt the guest is unaware that he snores but may not realize the impact in the context of shared housing experience. I have sent guests a private message regarding how they might be a better guest and received positive responses from the guest.
We all know how to use generic or neutral language in a review to alert other hosts without being blantantly negative. I think what I originally suggested might work. However, if these guests use Air BNB alot, then the review will ultimately recede as more reviews are written.
