I'm a fairly new host, been hosting my home this summer as I've been out of town. The summer went really well and we didn't have any issues with guests until the last one... I got in town right before the last guest but stayed with my parents that week, I went to see the house before the last guest to cleanup and setup for them. The house was in good shape. 3 days later, the last guests leave and the house is a complete mess, there was garbage everywhere, food in all the bedrooms and nail clips on the bedroom floors. But what got me really upset, was that there was vomit splashes around the house, foot marks on the counters, missing towels and some in the garbage. At checkout, I also noticed that there were more people than we had agreed on, 1-2 people more.
I will be putting in a claim agains the security deposit ($500) for the following:
- Missing/damadged towels ($40)
- Additional people ($20-$40X3 nights)
What can I do about the fact that they didn't follow the house rules of not partying? Do I charge them for it? How much can I charge them for it?
