Hi everyone. Someone just requested to stay on a date I have blocked out. I denied his request and apologized for having to do so. I have relatives who are staying in our guest room for the weekend. Then I went into my calendar to see if maybe I did not have the date blocked off correctly but I did indeed. Any thought?
You blocked the date so maybe they were desperate and just trying it on.
I'm assuming that you got a request by message not a formal booking request as this wouldnt normally be allowed.
I tell my family to check the calender if they want to stay to ensure we are not booked...so it works the other way too : )

a booking request is a serious commitment by a guest to stay with you, it needs to be either accepted or declined. A booking request is not possible to even come through when those specific dates are blocked out. So i take it someone approached you per message with a inquiry about those dates you had blocked out. they should know better, and i hope it didn't make you too apologetic, there really is nothing the potential guest can expect from you.

As others wrote, there is a difference between an inquiry and an actual "Booking Request" which you must accept or decline. An inquiry can by made by a potential guest for blocked off dates, but a Booking Request can't; it's not possible through the website. I've received inquiries for multiple dates, for example, of one blocked off date at the end or the beginning of a series of dates they want and are available. , and then we've accommodate them, because we have our calendar set up to have a full day of preparation between guests.
