Has a Reservation Request been paid?

We always received "Reservation confirmed" straight after we sent out our acceptance of the "Reservation Request".

We wonder if the booking would have been paid when the Reservation Request was sent to us.

We didn't expect airbnb require the payment be authorized or made before request is sent to the host.

Upon acceptance then ~if~ followed by a confirmation it has been paid, that is what 'confirms' it. Sometimes it can't go financially through and then enters the 'Waiting for payment' state of limbo, till payments is made.
