Historical Occupancy

I'm interested in purchasing a property with the intention of renting it through Airbnb. I was wondering if there is any way to get historical occupancy records for specific rentals or even an average for a certain area. 

Does airbnb provide any insights into this? Or would my best bet be to talk to existing hosts in the area.

If anyone has any other tools or insights that they think may be useful that would also be appreciated.

A simple (but unscientific) route would be to check how many of the local (to the property) listings there are and how they've traded (reviews etc.). Call the hosts too. 

I doubt Airbnb would share much.
