Help. I have a guest arriving today at 3:00, my check out time is set to 10:00am. I don't accept week night guests and somehow I managed to get a last minute booking yesterday (on thanksgiving) don't know how this happened. But I didn't want to be charged to cancel it so I let them come. Well, it's half past 10 and they're still here, not even making any effort to leave. What do I do? I need to clean and wash the bedding and bathroom etc. (I live here too)
Delorah, Knock on the guest's door, and when they open it, tell them check-out time was 10 am, and you need them to gather their things and leave the room so you can clean it for the next incoming guest. Be clear, direct, polite, and definitive. Do not apologize, hedge, or make excuses for them. Their stay is over and you wish them a pleasant journey to their next destination. Amy
Also, your late check-out fee is $50 per half hour (or whatever you want to set). You will give them that first half hour (that's already passed) if they are out in 15 mins. Otherwise, you'll have to charge them the full fee.
