I disclosed that I had cats before my guest booked and he has obvious uncomfortable allergies

I always disclose to prospective guests that I have two cats. (I rent out the other bedroom in my house so totally shared space) The cats absolutely do not go in the guests room and those linens are laundered off site, without my linens. My guest stated he had allergies when he arrived. He looks miserable and says it is affecting his stay. I feel I pre disclosed this (both in my actual listing, and in a private message BEFORE he booked) so, even though I’m empathetic, this is not my fault. Airbnb’s suggestion astonishingly was to farm my cats out to a friend or lock them in my room for the remainder of the guests stay (3 more weeks)!!!Are you kidding me?? Anyone have any suggestions? I have a strict cancellation policy so he’d get no money officially. I feel like Airbnb should do more to accommodate us both. Really frustrated!

@Delanie1  How absurd. Why on earth would someone with cat allergies book a place he was clearly informed had cats? And Airbnb's response is outrageous. If you have kids and your guest doesn't like kids, are we supposed to farm them out or lock them in their rooms? Maybe you should ask them that.

I'd ask the guest to cancel the rest of his booking,  and tell him that you will refund whatever days you are able to rebook. If he won't cancel it, get Airbnb to. Make sure Airbnb has screen shots of your message to him pre-booking re-iterating that you have cats. This is 100% on the guest. Stand your ground.
