I've discovered that offering my 3-bedroom house is more profitable and easier than renting 3 separate bedrooms.
Therefore, I try to rent the whole house by blocking off the separate bedrooms in the distant future. This give me a chance to rent the whole house.
I thought "Snooze" allowed me to easily block dates in the future. It does not 😞
Dates in the snoozed future CAN be reserved.
Because of my blunder, I can't rent out my house on the 4th of July. Over the 4th, Someone rented a single room during the "snoozed" period.
I use snooze a lot @Paul154
If you snooze a listing, it doesn't appear in search so how can it get reserved, sounds like another bug in the system.
@Jeff158 you snooze it for a certain period of time and it can't get booked during that time but someone can book it for that period of time before the hosts puts it on snooze. For example you schedule a snooze from 10-20 June and during that period of time your listing won't be visible but if I search on the 8th of june for a place to stay from 10-20 June I can see it and book it.
Why would anyone schedule a future snooze, for me its something I switch on and off on the days when I'm unavailable to process bookings.
It's semantics.
If one "snoozes" a listing for July 1 - August 1, then today (June 9), that listing can be reserved for any day in July .
Snoozing only starts when "we the world's" date is July 1. On THAT day, reservations will stop coming in for that lising.
Even as I'm writing this it seems wrong, but that is what I understand the CS guy said.
Sooo, block dates you don't want reserved. Don't use snooze.
@Paul154 snooze is good for when you know you are not going to be able to respond ro requests and inquiries fast in order not to loose your response rate but to still be able to communicate with your existing reservations.
Hello Paul,
I was of the opinion that a host can place a Snooze on his calendar for a period of time in the near future, and those dates will NOT be able to be booked ahead of time. Is this not the case, then?
If, for example, a host wishes to carry out renovations on the space, and the tradesmen plan to be available in two months time (say September)...surely the host can today place a Snooze on the dates from 1st September until the proposed finish date...and guests CANNOT book ahead for any dates included in the snoozed period ??
When placing Snooze on a listing, a host is required to enter the starting date and the ending date. This is how I thought it worked.
Paul, I am as puzzled as you are.
kind regards,
Lyn
I've never used the snooze feature, but I have always been under the impression that its usefullness is in your listing not being visible for a certain period of time when you won't be able to deal with requests, inquiries, or communicating with guests. If I don't want dates booked, I just block them manually on the calendar.
@Paul154 Maybe leave the other 2 rooms open to be booked for July 4 now? And block off anything in the future that isn't already booked so you can go with the 3 bedroom option. But you've probably already figured that out.
yes, it is more profitable.... but also problematic. I unlisted my 3 bdr apartment yesterday after I hosted 2 problematic groups of young guys one after another and reduced the number of guests I can host in my bigger apartment.
Bigger groups are chaotic, loud, disturb my neighbors, don't close the entrance door and make damages. 6-8 young guests = party, even if they don't invite anyone else.
Now I just separately rent my studio for 2 guests and 2-bdr apartment for max 4 guest.
Think about it.
