If I am a renter and pay rent through AirBnbing an empty room, how do I file income from AirBnb?

I am a renter in California, that pays rent through AirBnb. My room mates and I use the money to buy cleaning supplies and other things to help with AirBnb. We did not recieve a 1099 because we did not make more than $20,000 in 2016. However, we had more than 200 reservations, so we are required to file taxes. I'm afraid that we cannot file under Rentals or Properties because we do not own the property. What do you think?

It's income and you must pay taxes on it.  You need to consult a tax professional for all the major details. Here are some tips:

Regardless if you made $2 or $2 million, you are required to file taxes and recognize that income.  You will want to consult a tax professional to help ensure you are filing correctly.
