This lovely couple came to my cabin after finding it on Instagram, and in the review the woman wrote that her husband spent the afternoons painting outside in the blueberry field. I wrote and asked her if I could see his work, and he sent me this image. I gasped when I saw it! I've already arranged to buy it from him for what I think is a very modest price, and they swear they're coming back. Everybody wins!
Wow! Such a nice painting. Can I get the name of the artist?
Thank you all for your responses! I've been laid low with food poisoning since the night before last, finally rejoining the land of the living! The artist is Robert LaBranche @Anne1770 . (And just to clarify, @Alexandra316, it's not a gift, but although I'm buying it from him, it feels like some kind of gift!) The view he painted is irresistible @Lizzie ; I try to capture it in photographs almost every time I'm there, but painters are better at it. My cousin painted this a few years ago; it hangs in my kitchen in New York:
Sometimes it's clear as far as the eye can see - west over the Penobscot Bay to the Camden Hills - and sometimes it's moody:
Lately there's been a very grumpy man with an old pick-up truck who comes up to paint the view; I just leave him be but someday I'd like to see what he's been working on.
It's lovely. Glad you bought it!
That is AWESOME! What a treasure for you and your future guests.
Now I feel as if I had the pleasure of painting in the blueberry field! Have a blessed day.
It appears that they applied an adhesive on top of the dried painting, most likely in the form of tape because it is so nice and crisp. The inner square was then created using silver sheet foil, which only adheres to the adhesive.
