Leave neg review after submitting a claim?

Hi! We just had guests leave and they left our house disgusting with trash everywhere and damaged all of our white towels. Im going to submit a claim (only because all 5 towels, 5 washcloths and hand towels are stained). But can they still leave a review after they see the claim? I know I have to submit the claim within 48 hours, but what if they don't leave a review before the claim is submitted?
Thanks!

Hi @Lauren-And-Danny0,

Unfortunately these guests will still leave you a review and it could likely be a "revenge review".  I am dealing with this same situation where I had a guest book for 4 people and then snuck 3 more people in.  I charged them for the extra guests which I had to escalate to Airbnb as they refused to pay the amount.  They wrote me a revenge review and gave me 2 stars across the board even though they left these messages through the messaging system: "The apartment itself was clean and exactly what we needed",  "Everything is great down here!" and "Your suite is lovely and was everything we needed. Thank you for allowing us to stay. Sue".

I have had nothing but 5 stars and then because I charged them, they were allowed to destroy my star rating AND THEN they immediately closed their Airbnb account.  That is right, their account is closed but I still get to live with their vindictive reviews and rating because they broke the rules.  Because they closed their account, prospective guests cannot even cross-reference the reviews and they will probably create a new account, break the rules, and then mess some other host up.

You are on your own out there @Lauren-And-Danny0 so please remember that.  AIRBNB DOES NOT HAVE YOUR BACK!

Hi @Lauren-And-Danny0

@Dave-and-Deb0 is 100% correct and this is my main concern when I submit a claim...

Is the claim worth more than a possible bad review??
Yes --> Proceed with the claim
NO --> swallow your loss and live with it!

Airbnb will not protect you against any revenge review... Unless it is defamatory or something really bad in there... But the review can get really bad before get to the point of removal...

Instead Airbnb could use the same automated review system (from cancelations) to generate a automated review (with no weight on the "stars") in case of claims for damage or any other problem...
It would prevent both sides to write a review when anger strikes...

This has happened to me as well, my guests through food and trash without a bag in my bins inside the house and outside the house.  It smelled and I had to pick up their disgusting garbage by hand and wash out the bins.  I had pictures to proove it and the guests apologized as I charged them an additional cleaning fee for my time.

They wrote a vindictive review and gave 3 stars after saying on personal message how much they liked my place.  The only thing you can do is reply on your own wall if they've left you a negative message but thats about it.
