MISSING MONEY FROM MY PAYOUTS

Hi to all co Airbnb hosts,

I am an Airbnb host since december 2018. I host till now 9 groups of guests and my overall experience is very good. I have received all my payouts in time but in 4 of them the money that I have received was either $10 or $30 less than what is mentioned as my earnings(which is the amount the guests paid less 3% service fee taken by Airbnb).

My bank said that they do not deduct any money from money that they receive and it is the sender bank which deduct for wire transfering. Airbnb customer service could not give me an explanation for the missing money. Is there any one in this hosts community that can help me with explanation? Is it fee that the sender bank is charging and if so why in some of the payouts there was no deduction?

      Thanks, Alice.

@Alice683  It might have something to do with your payment method. If Airbnb is wire-transferring your payments to Ghana (?), there could be international transfer fees from any of the intermediary banking institutions, currency exchange fees, and exchange rates that change daily affecting your payout.

It's often the case that an international transfer fee is levied as a flat rate before it's received by your bank. Several hosts I've spoken to based in Africa and India have found that the best way to protect more of their earnings is to set a Minimum Payout Amount - see here:  https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/824/

This setting bundles your payouts together and does not transfer them until they meet the target amount you set. That way you don't have to pay a flat fee on top of each individual transaction.

Hi Andrew and thank you very much for your help.

My problem is that since Airbnb support could not answer my question I don't really know if the deductions are really a result of transfering  fee or not. If those deductions are for transfering fee than I would like to know what are the rates so I will be able to decide what should be the minimum payout amount. Do you have any idea how I can find out the transfering rates?

Thanks again, Alice.

Hi Alice, I´m having the exact same problem. I am based in Colombia. I am receiving 10 or 5 dollars less for every transaction and both my bank and airbnb claim that it is not them taking the money. Any luck figuring out whats going on?

I am facing the same problem.

I have found USD 10 deducted from each Airbnb payout sent via Western Union to me.
Western Union says they don't charge the recipient of the money. If so, who is deducting USD 10 from me?

Airbnb has no explanation.
