My listing doesn't appear at the result when searching for 2 people, why?

Dear Community,

I have a listing an apartment with 2 bedrooms (3 bed total, for 4 people).

I was told that my listing does not appear on results when they search for 2 people.

Could some please help me to address this issue?

I would like my listing to appear when searching for 1, 2, 3 or 4 people (because the price is the same, it is based on the hole apartment).

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!!!

@Antuan1  What you were told is not true. However, the search algorithm is likely to float listings with max 2 people higher in the results for a 2-person search because it's more appropriate for their needs.

Your pricing model may be the problem here. If the price is the same for 1, 2, 3, or 4 people, the smaller parties will feel they're wasting money on beds they're not using. If you want to compete for parties of 1 or 2, you'll have to set a base price that's equivalent to a single or double room in your area, and an extra per-person charge to account for preparing the second bedroom (presumably the one with the bunk beds, which is only likely to appeal to a family with kids).

I’m assuming that you were told this by a friend or potential guest that tried the search, not by Airbnb.

Before doing anything, verify that there really is a problem by going to the desktop version of Airbnb, putting your browser in Private mode, and trying the different guest number searches yourself using your guest account.  If you can get that to work, try the same search on your iPhone (which uses a different version of Airbnb).

If you verify that there is indeed a problem, you can make sure you have your max guests set correctly, but you’ve probably already verified that.

Next step is to call Airbnb.  I’ve had the best luck calling CS during US business hours, or any country’s business hours in which CS may have engineers accessible that actually work on the Airbnb software.

@Antuan1, @Anonymous is correct. I have just searched in Tirana, Albania, and your listing appears whether I put in 2 guests or 4 guests, but for the 2 guest filter, i have to scroll through a lot more listings before i find it. I wonder if you do what Andrew suggests and create different prices for difference numbers of guests whether this might help the listing to appear higher for 2 people.
