Need Advice - Damage Deposit

Hi! We are new to Airbnb. I have a damage deposit on our listing, that was added before this person booked. However, I am not able to see the damage deposit being charged on the reservation.

The whole story is that this guest requested to book before I was completely finished with the listing (I had forgotten to add our cleaning fees and damage deposit. I declined his request, but said I would honor his original booking price but add the cleaning fee and refundable damamge deposit. I declined him and he rebooked and now I see the cleaning fee, but not the damage deposit.

Should I be concerned?

Also, the second time he booked, did not require my approval, which has me concerned, because I have on my listing to have to approve them.

I do not believe they are charged the damage deposit up front.  I have a $200 damage deposit but they are only charged this if there is damage.  They basically have to agree  ahead of time to pay the $200 if it can be proven they caused damage and of course they can still deny they caused the damage and refuce to pay even with the deposit so really its kinda meaningless.

Hello @Katelynn4,

As Ned and Laura say, they're not charged the deposit up front.

The article below explains what Airbnb means by the deposit.

How does Airbnb handle security deposits?

Guests can book without you having to approve them because instant book is turned on for both your listings.
