Professional photoshoot gone very wrong...... By Airbnb

Hi all fellow hosts!

 

I would like to share my story with you and like to see if anyone else else has experienced something similar!

 

It all started the 14 July 2018 when I received my super host status (8 times in a row) and I got the 100$ reward.  This time I could choose to get a professional photographer using my 100$ reward which was good news for me as of Airbnb is sending me reminders of my photos!  

I do have 4 properties that I rent out and that is a one bedroom apartment , a two bedroom apartment and 2 two bedroom houses.

 

I went to the Airbnb page and requested a photographer using the reward. I requested  photographer for my properties Cosy 2 Bedroom Apartment Lamai Koh Samui and Big Cosy Apartment (100 Sqm) Lamai.

 

I got a reply from Airbnb that there a professional photographer was ready to capture my space and the photographer should contact me in the next few days to schedule the shoot. I was waiting for 3 weeks and still haven’t got any contact from the photographer. I contacted Airbnb that told me that the photographer wasn’t available in my area anymore and by advice from Airbnb I canceled the request on the page and they told me to keep checking on the page from time to time to see if any photographer would be available in my area.

 

On the 5th September I checked again and there was a photographer in my area. I requested a photographer but this for my other 2 properties Cosy 2 bedroom House Lamai (1A) and Cosy 2 bedroom House Lamai (1B) as of I didn’t have any guests in it. I contacted Airbnb regarding the 100$ reward and got an answer that since I had canceled the request in August that reward was expired?? I didn’t care so much about it , but felt cheated as of it was Airbnb that advised me to cancel and didn’t mention anything about it.

I just wanted to get new photos of my places and I had no problem with paying for it.

But like last time, I got the the reply from Airbnb that there a professional photographer was ready to capture my space and the photographer should contact me in the next few days to schedule the shoot. It was the same photographer that was available as it was the first time. Again I waited and checked on the page if my request was still active. At one point when I checked on the page it said that I had no properties listed on Airbnb at all and by the look of it the request had been vanished…… ( is this an error on there page?)

The 1st of October I contacted Airbnb again to ask what had happened. I didn’t get a clear answer from them but got told I should try later, by now I had enough and thought that if I need new photos I would find a photographer by my self and not use the service Airbnb offer.

 

Then out of the blue on the 2th of October the photographer contacted me saying that we can schedule a time for the photo shoot. I was very pleased with this and was assuming that this photo shoot was for the 2 houses as of the request for the apartments was canceled in August. 

I prepared the houses and got everything ready. 

We agreed for the shoot on the 4th of October and I meet the photographer and took her to my place. 

She was a very kind and professional with her work. After she had done the photos she told me that she would send the photos to Airbnb for a quality check and when Airbnb would approve them they would upload them to my property. She told me it could take up to a month before they would show on my page. 

 

Now on Thursday the 25th of October I get a mail from Airbnb that the photos is ready and has been uploaded to my page. By my surprise I can see that Airbnb has uploaded the picture of the Cosy 2 bedroom House Lamai (1A) to the Cosy 2 Bedroom Apartment Lamai? It is totally wrong as of the place and all the furnisher doesn’t match at all??? I did try to contact Airbnb immediately by requesting a phone call. They never phone me back! I do write to them to ask what has happened and just get a message that the case has been forwarded to another team.

 

Since I can’t contact Airbnb I phoned the photographer to see if she known anything about this? To my surprise again she tells me that the case was for the apartments ? Now I don’t understand a thing what is going on. The request for the apartments was canceled by advice from Airbnb in August? The request for the houses suddenly  vanished? On the 1th October I get the message to try later, them the day after the photographer is suddenly there?

 

I been waiting for a answer from Airbnb but then again to day 30 October I get a new message that the photos is ready and has been uploaded to my page. This is the photos from Cosy 2 bedroom House Lamai (1B) that has been uploaded to Big Cosy Apartment (100 Sqm) Lamai? Again it is totally wrong as of the place and all the furnisher doesn’t match at all???

 

Now my listings is totally messed up as of the pictures from the wrong places is in the wrong places . 

I haven’t deleted them yet but moved the new pictures to the bottom of the photos hopefully getting an answer back from Airbnb.

 

And I have already been charged (deducted) for the first one photo shoot? 

 

So now I have 2 sets of professional photos on the wrong properties ! 

On the request page for a photographer I can’t request for the 2 apartment properties  as of they already has been registered as completed. I can however request for the 2 houses I have, but I already have the photos for them?

I can’t upload any pictures as of Airbnb has the original photos with them.

 

Honestly I would have thought that if there was a quality control with Airbnb that they would have checked if the new photos would have a similarity with the photos that is already on the page? And it would turn on the red lamp if none of the furnisher , color on the walls , pictures on the wall wouldn’t match ?

 

It should be an easy task for the team at Airbnb to fix this by uploading the right photos to the right properties and find out that my request for the apartment was canceled in August? And that I had a new request for the houses in September.

I don’t know what has happened and I hope they can get this fixed soon as of the high season is comming to my area very soon.

 

And I don’t think I would been a super host if I would have done this many mistakes !!

What a mess! Can you add descriptions to the photos uploaded by Airbnb just like you would do you regular pictures? Perhaps under all the wrong pictures you can write “photographs uploaded by Airbnb by mistake, please disregard”. Or something along those lines. Can you take a screenshot of the correct pictures with your phone and then upload them to the right property? As for reaching Airbnb, I find for complicate situations like this one working with them through Facebook does the trick. At least it sounds like the pictures turned out nice!
