Response Rates and Emails

Hello All!

I got a request 14 hours ago from a man who doesn't list his last name, and has no reviews. I emailed him a message last night, inquiring about some things before I accepted him. He has not answered me back, and I have 10 hours left to accept or deny him before my 24 hours is up and it impacts my stats.  I don't want to hit "decline", because the reservation might be ok. But I also don't want to accept him if he won't give me more information about himself.  Is there any way to contact Air bnb and show that I emailed him, but he hasn't responded? Will that count as a "response" within 24 hours?

Thanks for your help! I am new to all of this! 🙂

Last names are never disclosed prior to booking for security reasons.

If he doesn't get back to you on time, send him another message shortly before time runs out saying that in order to not negatively impact your Airbnb response record you will need to decline his request before 24h are up. If he is  still interested in booking, then he is welcome to resend a request after answering your questions.

You now have to decline or accept for your response rate to not be impacted. Yes, decline with a note. He can always resend request. In my experience, when they don't respond quickly it means that they have moved on.
