I have 2 questions in this area.
1. The discounts only seem to apply to the first person, additional people are charged at full rate. Is this how it is supposed to work?
2. I received a request for a 3 month booking. One question that the potential guest asked was "Do you offer a discount?" From the price offered, it was clear that the discount had actually been applied. So, I now wonder if it might be better to NOT offer automatic discounts, but to use the "Special Offer" feature if a discount is requested? Any thoughts from other hosts would be appreciated.
Many thanks
@Jane-and-Tony0 I would advice you to the special offer feature instead of giving weekly and monthly discounts.Do not leave money on the table.Happy hosting!!!
@Oomesh-Kumarsingh0Thank you Oomesh. Ask and thou shalt receive (a discount). No more auto discounting!!!
@Jane-and-Tony0 Exactly! That's the best way to earn more in less days. The special offer should be use only for guests who are asking politely for a discount or during off season.
I think I will accept the above advice and make special offer discounts to polite requests. The discounts are set up in quite a confusing way. We used to offer 10% discounts to all weekly guests and 15% to bookings of 28 days or more. It appears on our site that we offer an average weekly price of $635 and average monthly price of $2602 which is more expensive than the weekly rate to my eyes. The explanation is that the average week is 7 days but the average month is 30 days not 28 days. I have never had a booking of 28 days or more and have been with Airbnb for 30 months. Perhaps this cofusion is a contributing factor.
