a guest you booked with us, said she had a discount coupon and listed the number to use.

Hello, we didn't offer a  discount code in our listing, and we have a quest who booked with us this week and said she has an Airbnb discount code number to apply.

Where did she get this code?  How do I handle this?  She is arriving this Friday?

thanks

@Diane-and-Greg0   This has nothing to do with you. The guest needed to apply her coupon code when she booked. It is between the guest and Airbnb, the host can't apply a coupon code to their guest's booking. Make sure she understands this. It sounds like she is planning to arrive and expects you to refund her the amount of the coupon code. It doesn't work like that.

Hosts and guests get awarded discount coupons for various things by Airbnb. If a guest applies a coupon code at the time they book, the amount will be deducted from their booking price, but it doesn't affect your payment, you'll still get paid out the same amount you would if a guest didn't use a coupon.

Thanks Sarah!!! And thanks for your speedy response.

I will contact her to be sure she applied the code at check through Airbnb. If she says she didn’t then she would have to cancel the reservation and rebook accordingly and apply discount, I assume.  Why else would she tell me what her numeric discount code was.

Thanks again.

If she cancels her booking, and it was made more than 48 hours ago, and rebooks the same dates, she'll get charged the service fees twice. You could advise her to contact Airbnb and explain the situation. It's up to them whether they will let her apply the coupon after the fact.

Whatever you do, if she cancels the reservation and you get a message asking you to approve the cancellation, DO NOT. Decline it. When hosts get a notice like that and accept it, it goes down as a host cancellation, for which you will be punished.
