Hello
2 weeks ago I have accepted a booking for a couple to stay in our family house. The girl sent me a lovely message, she had 4 verifications but no review or description .
since then I have received lots of bookings of people with no reviews / weird profil photo / no verication at all. I have declined all this bookings
I now dont feel confortable with her booking. how can I check if this is a scam ?
many thanks for your help
clemence
Call the guest, say you are her airbnb host calling to make sure that she received all the information needed like the address etc. Add that it looks like she is also new to airbnb. You are looking forward to hosting her. It is a neutral message, should be ok on your side and you should have some sense if the guest is real.
It's pretty common to actually have lots of guests with no prior reviews. So that fact alone should not alarm you.
good idea thanks x
New travellers will not have reviews and so someone must host them to get them started in the AirBnB family.I have hosted several people recently without reviews and have met some wonderful, courteous and gracious guests. We need not assume all the people looking at our accommodations are scammers. Happy hosting!
@Clemence6 If you only want verified users to be able to book, be sure to select this in your options. Of course new users can still be verified but have no reviews....every guest has to be a first time guest once.
It looks like verified guest are only for instant booking . I am still receiving bookings from people with only phone number and email addressed checked, their profile photo are always strange (someone's bum ! or someones back ...) .
You can require that all booking guests be fully verified, including a government ID. But you will need to be fully verified yourself.
