A suggestion for all regular participants here

The best response to about half the questions here is to simply direct the individual to contact AirBnB. I politely suggest that all of the regular participants here copy the following two bits into a note on their PCs, and then regularly copy/paste them into their replies here. The more opportunities that confused hosts have to find these otherwise hard-to-find ways to contact AirBnB, the better.

Here are my two suggested copy/pastes. First, an excellent article by Dave&Deb:  Contact Airbnb

Second, a comprehensive list of worldwide phone numbers:

@Dede0, the only problem with posting them all out is  the space it takes up and people have to scroll down, down, down to get to the next bit. If you remember the entertaining and handsomely bearded Mike from Oregon who started doing this as he was adamant people should have easy access to the numbers, he refused to prune down the list and was banned from the forum from what I understand. Could have been because of occasional bluntness but I think it was mainly because of the long list. A link is good, takes up no room.

@Sandra126 MIke was banned not because of his (laudable) inclusion of the long list of phone numbers, but quite specifically because he couldn't control his tendency toward snarky or even insulting replies, even when asked multiple times by the moderators to tone it down. (I have this info directly from the moderators, via private communication.) Too bad, as he sometimes could supply useful information.

Anyway, I think that tossing in the long list of phone numbers every so often, to keep them easily accessible (which AirBnB certainly doesn't do) is a good thing. Don't add them to every response, but just where appropriate.

@Dede0 @Sandra126 shortly after he was given the boot I happened upon another more independent host forum which he joined a few days later and his charming manner managed to get him tossed off of it even within a day! That was funny.

My idea is that before you are able to list you need to show you can find how to Contact ABB.

David

@David126 I agree, but have to add: hahahaha

Ain't gonna happen, even if it should!  🙂

@Dede0    I think it's a great idea, when I remember I always post it at the end of any response.

One suggestion, put the comprehensive list of worldwide phone numbers in another post with that as title,  that way people can link it along with the Community Help Guide by Dave & Deb and it takes up no space at all and the post  will come up in a search for contact numbers.

Contact Airbnb: A Community Help Guide

Contact Airbnb: Comprehensive List of Worldwide Phone Numbers

I add this jpeg sometimes,  "search"is not highlighted so easily missed as one's eye is dragged to the bright red "Start a Conversation" instead.

I use an an app called clips. And I save two links that use regularly. By pasting just the links it is kess obtrusive and provides the information.

There are similar applications for the pc/Mac

Instead of posting that long list of phone numbers, why not make a frequently asked questions thread and post them there. Or if you feel that *a* phone number would be helpful in a thread why not post that phone number. I agree with the others that repeatedly posting lengthy information that is not related to the topic at hand is disruptive and ultimately after several warnings I would hope that the moderators would ban someone for doing it. Does a thread about bank transfers in New York, really need the AirBnB Helpdesk number for Estonia?

@Scott0, I sure like your idea of having a link to the discussed help guide with all the phone numbers in a frequently asked questions section. But to be effective, it should be in Airbnb's frequently asked questions, not here in the host forum, where there is no such thing. It's not streamlined by any means, so the same questions come up again and again and again...I sure wish that link with all the contact info would be easily visible on top of this discussion forum! telling people to use the search function takes more time than to actually type the number they are looking for!
Seems like Airbnb is not interested in opening up to more/better host service on their part. So not having phone numbers easily visible saves them from thousands of phone calls, many of which are quite unnecessary, if only hosts would spend a few minutes on solving their own problems! But it is also true that there are situations where a host really needs to get in touch with Airbnb, and they don't find any contact info. It's a dilemma.....
and ohhh! I had wondered what happened to Mike. He was here all the time, then poof, he was gone......

I sound like an old Usenet geek by typing this, but I am amazed that people don't search the discussion boards or even Google for the information, before posting. I needed to call AirBnB once, for a consensual, third-party booking so AirBnB had to switch the booking account.  So I just Googled 'AirBnB phone number' and SHAZAM, there it was. 🙂

@Scott80, I rang them once too because of an IT issue and I found it easily but I only found the forum a few months ago, hence my conclusion is that it is easier to find their phone number than the community forum.

Justice for Mike from Oregon!

Guilty for only calling spade a spade

The simple 'Help' link at the bottom of this page is also a treasure trove of frequently asked questions.

I've never understood why moderators can't or won't simply 'sticky' a link to the contact numbers and FAQ to the top of each first page in each section of the forum.
