[Meetup] December 17th, 2020: Festive Community Social

Hello everyone,

I don't know about you, but the holiday period feels like it's speeding towards us now, we will blink and it will have gone. Before that happens, I thought it was only right to send 2020 on it way with a festive social meetup. I'm picturing tinsel, festive jumpers (pull overs), decorations, carols, reindeers, festive food/drink....I think you get the picture. 🙂 

I've ummed and erred on the date as it would be lovely to get everyone together and celebrate the great friendships that we've made this year, so I'm hoping this date and time will be suitable for you. If not, please let me know and perhaps we could swap to the other timezone friendly time.

I was up at 4am so I doubt I'll be awake, wishing you all a Merry Christmas.  I just today sold my accommodation, there will be another later on. For now, I'll thank you all for the forum but especially @Lizzie.

This aside, wow, you've sold your listing @Sandra126, this is quite a big moment, but exciting to see what the next chapter will bring. Are you planning on taking a little break from hosting until you find somewhere else you like?

I hope you will still pop in and see us in the CC, you have been a long term friend of the CC and I will certainly miss you (plus you never lose the amount of experience you have).  I wish you all the best and let's stay in touch. Thank you for everything.

It was sooooo amazing to see you all earlier. I think we marked the end of 2020 with our last CC social very well. It was lovely to see some new faces in our meetup (although not new to the Community Center). Special thanks to Jessica and Yuan for joining whilst traveling, Yuan you magical scenery was very impressive and also to you Inna for popping in among juggling getting the kids ready for school (it does sound a little eventful once you returned). Plus, I must thank our special guests, Stephanie & little one for joining.

Here is the customary photo (I'm sorry we took this before you joined Inna, but I think Cathie took one later on, so we can have both 🙂 ) 

There hasn't been a lot of times to celebrate this year, but I think meeting with you in our regular social has brought that added and much needed human interaction that has been very much deprived. I want to thank you for joining (including those who weren't able to join today, but have in the past months), for making our meetups such a fun and supportive few hours and I think we've all learnt so much from each other. 🙂

The gender balance somehow varies depending on the time zone etc, whose available or not on the day. As you can see by the avatars posted by @Lizzie  above, there can be quite a few blokes who come to the chats. 

BTW, you are always welcome and congratulations on being part of the Host Advisory board. Interesting times ahead.... 🎄
