[Meetup] November 25th, 2020: Community Social

Meetup.jpg

Hello everyone,

I hope you are keeping well. We are quickly moving towards the end of the year, but before we head into 2021 (I think many of us are quite looking forward to saying goodbye to 2020), we still have time for several more social meetups. 🙂

I know for many of our US members, you will be celebrating Thanksgiving towards the end of the week, so I thought we might be able to sneak a meetup in just before it.

The next social meetup will take place on Wednesday, November 25th, 10PM (UK time).

Timezones:

Wednesday November 25th, 4PM (Kansas City / Pensacola, Florida)

Wednesday November 25th, 5PM (New York / Toronto)

Wednesday November 25th, 11PM (Spain)

Thursday November 26th, 7AM (Seoul)

Thursday November 26th, 7:30AM (Darwin)

Thursday November 26th, 8:30AM(Adelaide)

[Updated each event] Please register using this link: https://airbnb.zoom.us/meeting/register/tJEld-mppzgqG9VwQca8w5UxDM1qfpUgOQMf

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. Not sure how to use Zoom? Check out this CC guide

Tagging some of you who are regulars, but anyone who is new to the CC or EN socials we would love to see you:

@Cathie19@Lawrene0@Clara116@Christine615@Jessica-and-Henry0@Ann72@Kimberly29@Roberta2, @Quincy, @Sandra126@Helen3,  @Marissa107@Suzanne302@Ann489@Yadira22@Alexandra316@Nick@Debra300 @Yuan100 @Robin4@Katie@Inna22

It would be lovely to see as many of you as possible.

Thanks so much and do let me know if there is anything in particular you would like to chat about.

Lizzie

New to CC socials: For anyone new to the socials, it's a weekly online meetup where CC members come together to connect with each other and have a bit of positivity along the way. It's not specifically Airbnb focused and anyone new is very welcome.

Oh, @Clara116 , it was so good to see you! And everyone!

Don't you worry about me. It had been a long rainy day and I literally had nothing to say, well, beyond the fact that the long day had been spent mopping up after messy guests. Guests can be messy: there's a news flash for a group of hosts...

It's brilliant that we solved the world's problems instead. 🙂

@Lawrene0 thanks sweet one! And true we did solve the world's problems didn't we.

Messy guests

...hahaha seems COVID has opened pathways  sometimes for a special group of less than smart, messy, and very cheap and entitled people staying in Airbnbs. Just sayin....so grateful for those super guests that give us hope. My guest left yesterday and when he arrived he brought us 3 huge bags of special potato chips from Detroit....gotta love it! how sweet to start off with them being so kind. Rockstar guest he was. And his review for the stay in our cottage was super. He wrote one word:   "INCREDIBLE".          Hugs to you:)

Never tried the potato chips, @Clara116 , but I once had a guest from Detroit bring olive bread. Mmm!

Border is closed now, so I'll try not to think about Detroit food! 🙂

Hello @Lawrene0@Clara116@Ann72@Cathie19@Jessica-and-Henry0@Marissa107@Christine615,

I think the photo says it all, what a great group of smiley people you are. I so enjoyed our conversation the other night and as you say Cathie, we sure did cover a range of topics (it all seemed to flow seamlessly together though)! hehe

I always learn interesting things from you all and we do have a good laugh at the same time. I think it's healthy for us all. 🙂

Marissa, I wonder if you might be able to share the steps for your Turmeric cream? I'm tempted to try that out.

I hope all of you in the US enjoyed your Thanksgiving and even in strange times it felt special.

Ann, how did the pumpkin pies turn out? Did the listening trick work? Clara, how was the kale? It looked so delicious.

Happy Friday to you all and thank you so much.

Lizzie

@Lizzie @Clara116 @Lawrene0 @Cathie19 @Marissa107 @Christine615 @Jessica-and-Henry0  I would love the turmeric cream recipe, too.  And Jessica's checked rain jacket to pair with Marissa's blaze orange pedal pushers.  And to hang out with Clara in her garden.

I listened to the tartlets for awhile and took them out when they were making less noise than before.  It finally occurred to me that pumpkin would always be wet, obvs, so I pulled them out, cooled them down, and covered their sins with whipped cream.  Result below with the sweet potato casserole and the cranberry sauce.  My hosts made everything else and served some great Champagne so everything tasted fantastic 🙂

@Marj2 and @Debra300 hope you make it next time!

@Lizzie yes the photo is all smiles and terrific! Thanks to you for inspiring and keeping this going....it's a really important part of feeding my spirit during these days of surprise, wonder and the great unknowns.  The kale is indeed wonderful and all the other veggies in the garden...I wish so that I could share some of it all with all my buddies from our zoom social chats/meet ups.  Hugs all

Aww thank you @Clara116. I think that the calls are at least one of the good things to come out of lockdown.

I feel one day we may all meet. 🙂 That would be amazing.

@Lizzie  and all the group....I was also thinking where.....is a place where all of us could meet - when all is allowed. With our homelands being pretty widespread....let's talk about where is a place, kinda equal distance for each person. I'll have to make that a project of destinations and how far. Of course there are places on my bucket list still..  thailand.... Croatia.... australia....but I would travel wherever we can all gather....I've saved for such life joys. Let's start talking about it...who else is in?

This is so lovely. I know I missed it, but I'll try to connect more on here. I've been solo quarantining this whole time and somehow forgot about my AirBnB community.

Since I had to stop hosting, it almost dropped completely out of my mind 😞 It had been such a big part of my life, so it's weird. My AirBnB guest room has been sitting empty for 9 months.

Hello @Marj2,

It would be lovely to see you at a future social meetup. I'll let you know when the next one happens, so you know about it, if you like.  We usually have them every couple of weeks and they switch between a North America friendly timezone to a APAC friendly timezone. The next one will be in December.

Hoping your guests will be able to return to your home soon, but in the mean time we can keep you company a little bit. 🙂
