hopefully you followed up on airbnb to summarise your conversation in writing if not do that now !!
did the host ask you to cancel in writing?
get on the phone to Airbnb after reading up on the guest guarantee and confirm the host told you they won't accommodate you and is asking you to cancel
airbnb should step in and help you find alternative accommodation and ask the host to cover additional costs .
