Are Airbnb no longer giving an e mail for guests

I used to get an e mail for guests that enable me to send them attachments of templates I use to give clients additional information.

Has airbnb ceased giving us an e mail, I haven't got one for the past couple of months..

Hi Patrick, I'm having the same problem. It looks like Airbnb no longer provide this function according to a page in their help centre: airbnb.co.uk/help/article/2893

It says "The email alias feature is no longer available. If you have questions about how to send documents or agreements to your guests, contact us [the Airbnb support team] for help."

So I contacted them and I was just told to message the guest and ask for their email address, which seems annoying and extra work for both host and guest.

I don't know why Airbnb have made this decision, it seems pointless and the loss of a useful function. I've fed this back but have had no response as to why they removed it and whether there's any chance of them changing their mind. Perhaps if lots of people feedback that they miss this function they may have a rethink.

All the best

@Nick-and-Charlotte0I used to use this email feature and schedule guests emails for every reservation. Now that it has been retired as a feature, I have found that there is a useful scheduled message you can compose. If you are in your Airbnb account, click on the message tab, then on the left-hand side where the list of messages is positioned, at the top, click on the hamburger icon on the left next to 'All Messages'. You will see the option 'Scheduled Messages' this is a handy feature, can be automated to send to guests 2 weeks before check-in or any other custom time frame. You can add links to documents if you wish the guest to view other information. I use bitly to shorten the links to those documents. So for intance you may have a 'House Rules' pdf. Upload this pdf to your personal google Drive folder, right-click on that doc in google drive to get the link, and then create a bitly account, and shorten the link. I called Airbnb and checked with them, they do accept links in this scheduled message. Just thought i'd share that as I relied heavily on the guest email, but actually, this way, there is no forgetting to schedule that email as its automated now. 🙂 happy hosting

@Tamsin4  Scheduled messages may work for some, but sending my guests a link like bitly is seen as suspect and my guests will not click on the link provided.

Hosts should have the ability to communicate with their guests without relying on suspect links.

@Lorna170Quite true, and also there is a lot of additional info I need to give my guests for security, key access etc, and unless it comes neatly included in an email they can see the names of the attachments, they are also not likely to download it as its just another to-do item. Its a pity it has been removed. A long bland scheduled message without any styling also doesnt encourage guests to read the important info about the house. Hopefully Airbnb hears our please to bring back this feature.
