Asking for Address

Asking for Address

I have a guest that is confirmed and booked with me to stay in a month from now. He just asked the address to see how far it is from where he is going to play golf. I’ve never had anyone ask for the address so this is new for me. Does Airbnb release the address immediately or closer to the time of their reservation?

@Haley130

The address is immediately released to the guest after confirmation of the booking.

It is in the itenerary, so probably the guest did overlook it ?

I would just give him the block the house is on, like “It’s on the 200 block of Main St.”. It’s really not necessary for him to have the exact address, although, as @Emiel1 said, it may be included in the confirmation.

@Haley130 The address that you have registered with Airbnb should be on his confirmation. He likely has not looked at it.

@Haley130 He could also give you the name of the golf course and you could distance it for him.

@Haley130 ,

I apply from Airbnb App all my listing release address after the  “Cancellation period”

That mean after the guest booking, they can’t see my exact address immediately or they can only notice my listing address closer to their check in date.

You may clicking the same button as I do while publishing a new listing in Airbnb App.

@Dale711 , I was gonna mention that, its a somewhat new feature that I actually dont really understand.  I can see not showing your address until after booking but once your booked, it seems like the guest should know then exactly where they will be going.  Im sure there is a reason for that but I cant think of one off the top of my head.

@Melodie-And-John0  If you don't have this feature activated, someone can place a fake booking just to get your address, then cancel for a full refund within the grace period. That would defeat the purpose of hiding your address from the public listing.

interesting @Anonymous , I hadn't considered that, your supposing they would do that to rob you or something like that? JR

@Melodie-And-John0  That's a pretty common concern. We've seen hundreds of posts detailing operations that run scripts to target hosts en masse in wire fraud and phishing schemes, but those have mostly fallen short of placing a confirmed booking, since those have a cost. But when there's a "free cancellation" period, the door is wide open for the scammers to bypass the inquiry process and just harvest home addresses with cancelled bookings.

This wouldn't be a concern for hosts who also do direct bookings as a public lodge, but when the listing is in the more intimate setting of a private home, you'd feel pretty violated knowing that a con artist got your exact address and detailed directions to your doorstep for free, and can now keep an eye on your calendar to see when you might be alone.

@Anonymous , that could be concerning for sure.  Bearpath Lodging is easy to find using Google earth Street level, only 3 houses, 1 trailer and a farm in a half mile stretch and the pic of the front of the home clearly shows the house number, (I probably need to photoshop that out).    Those who might try to rob us better hope they dont get caught in  the act by me or one of my neighbors cause I may not be able to stop them from trying, I can sure try to break them of the habit pretty quick!  Stay well, JR

As screenshots  below, by clicking the box button for the guests won’t see host address, last name, phone number while there able to cancel for free. Airbnb will send guest this information after the free cancellation window.

Tell him he will be within 'Wood #4' range from your place, he will be highly impressed; or maybe not since I do not have a blessed clue about golfing.
