Charged for booking already eventhough it states I won't be charged until booking is confirmed

Hello community/Airbnb,

 

I reserved a booking today and I received an email notice that stated the host hasn't yet confirmed my reservation.

Also, it said that I wouldn't be charged until the booking was confirmed.  However, I have in fact been charged already.

The email stated the host will review my booking within 24 hours.

I do want to reserve the booking, so its not like I want to cancel.  Just confused why it states one thing concerning when I'll

be charged, but it conflicts with what has actually occurred.  Tried to find a phone number for Airbnb, but apparently they don't take calls, so posted my issue here.

I believe Airbnb puts a hold on the funds for some reservations and then processes it completely when the Host accepts your request to book. Some reservations require the full payment be made while you are waiting for the Host to respond. The Host has up to 24hrs to accept the booking or decline. If they decline, the funds should be returned automatically to your payment method.
