Dryer broken

I’m struggling with this one. I have a washer and dryer in my rental and currently have a family renting for 5 days (I flip to 7-day minimums in July).  On the third day, the tenant notified me that the dryer is blowing cool air. I told her I’d try to get a repairman in and to use the local laundromat, and that I would try to make this right for them. In the past hour I leaned it can’t be repaired, and I will be replacing the unit - however, due to labor shortages, it won’t be resolved for two weeks. I’m trying to justify the proper compensation for this, because frankly, most short term stays never touch the machines and if I had known she’d be doing laundry daily I would have politely told her I didn’t think my property was suitable for them. But I am here now, and wondering what other hosts would consider an acceptable remedy. I am bringing them more towels tonight. I had made a concession earlier and provided her with a vacuum cleaner because she insisted she must vacuum every day, so I’m feeling a little tapped out right now.  I am thinking a $100 credit should suffice, understanding already that nothing I do in this situation will please her.  Many thanks in advance…

Sounds like a good starting point. If 'Ms. OCD' lives in a home, she will understand that mechanical things do break and repairing is indeed always a hassle and not instant.

P.S. What a cool NE coast locastion you have, its a classic.

Thanks Fred!  Your place looks AMAZING!!  Interestingly, something shifted for my guest when I brought them extra linens and offered to bring the soiled ones to the laundromat. She was surprised and very appreciative, and after that she said not to worry, they would work things out. So this was a problem that ended well, and with grace. I’m grateful for whatever small nuggets I get!  Appreciate your feedback!
