So I had an out of town employment agency book a private room in my house (shared accommodations) for a month for one of their employees that is on contract with them and new to our area. This person that is staying with us works a 12 hour night shift, and then they get home around 7:30 am and go to sleep, and then rinse/repeat each day. So this morning, around 9am, I get a call from a person who did not book the room but from the same agency claiming to be the owner, that they are trying to get ahold of their employee and they are not answering the phone. They requested that I go knock on the guest's door and let them know that their agency/employer are trying to get a hold of them.
What would you do as a host? would you wake up your guest to let them know their employer is trying to reach them?

I'm a retired nurse. Don't get in the middle of it. I guarantee you she turned off her phone so she doesn't get these calls from her employer. She probably just got to sleep and does not want to be disturbed as it would be difficult to get back to sleep. Working those hours is difficult as it is. They are probably short and want her to come in early.
I'd not wake my guest, knowing their hours. The employer should also know this information, so this is unreasonable, imho. I'd slip a paper note under the door, they'll find it when awake.
agreed!

This is exactly what happened. She is a nurse too, working horrible hours. I was not going to wake her no matter what.
Why were they trying to get hold of the employee @Jillian185
I agree a note under /taped to their door is the most you should offer.
is this a third party booking or an Airbnb at Work booking?
Apparently they were trying to change her shift or something. Unfortunately, this was booked by another individual acting for her company. I didn't realize when I took the booking that this is forbidden, or I wouldn't have taken the booking, and request that she rebook it under a work/business account. Lesson learned.
Hi, so the conversation didn't go well. I was surprised at first by the call. After we cleared who he said he was, I said No. I'm not her parent and she is my guest, not you. I further explained that you have set communication pathways with your employees, and I am not one of them. Use those pathways to talk to her, and if they fail, then that's your process failure to work with. He said I was being unreasonable and was becoming more adamant that I do this for him, and I eventually told him to not ever call me again and hung up on him. I didn't even mention at the time that I was 3 hours away from the house and couldn't have knocked on the door if I wanted to, haha.
