Hello Gordon0. Thanks for your reply and yes, I could start showing cropped photos of the parts of the property that they can use but this is very time-consuming, fiddly and unnecessary for me. The photo shows the property in all it's glory as that represents the property the guest will be staying at not necessarily every area that they can use. I feel it helps for when they're arriving and trying to find it as it is in a block of 12 units and can't be seen from the street. Although it is now out-of-date anyway I must confess as the rose bushes are no longer there! It just happened to be a good photo that the real estate agency that I bought it from had. Of course it still remains a fact that I have to have somewhere to park so I consider the carport my domain and my right to use it! No guest has the right to use someone's parking space without asking - it's just plain rude and should not be assumed. I have had a permanent sign made up that I have positioned over the top of the carport to make this fact 100% clear as I'm not going to have anyone else park in there. Look out if they do. I even made sure that it's reflective so they can see it at night!
Yes, I know a lot of guests don't read the entire profile but it's up to them to do so so that they know what they're "getting". If they don't do this then something may come as a surprise and start arguing with the host about not being aware of it and they would be wrong to do that.
Of course I have had the odd guest who has had the booking made for them by a 3rd party and that complicates things as they haven't been verified at the very least, the booking is under the 3rd party's name, the review is under their name AND they don't tell you who the guest is let alone when they're arriving. I had to check one particular person's photo ID at the door as I wasn't going to let him in case he were to steal or break something and I had no recourse.
