Winter Release Q&A with Airbnb’s Christy Schrader

Winter Release Q&A session

Guest scammer

Guest scammer

We have a guest that is making false claims in order to get a refund. They claim that their internet connection has not been working for 2 weeks but the only ‘evidence’ they have is a screenshot where they type “we lost connection” that was dated a week prior. But Airbnb is telling me that they are going to give them a 30% discount on the entire month’s stay. I provided a screenshot with an up-to-date speedtest showing download speeds of 188 and upload of 22. But Airbnb is siding with the guest, even though. Has anyone else run into this issue? How can hosts protect themselves from scamming guests?

This guest may be always looking for any kind of reason to constantly ask for deductions on his stays.
Make sure you warn Hosts on your REVIEW about them,  Clearly telling them about your situation with your evidence of screen shots etc… It doesn’t sound very fair to you.

I am just confused,

Is the guest reporting the whole initial twp. weeks no internet? Or 1 day?

Airbnb is discounting 4 weeks from a 1 day complaint?
