Guest want partial refund on WiFi being down half the stay

I run a private bedroom and bathroom for guest in my second apartment room. I charge $50 on weekdays and $70 on weekends. It's in a really nice area in the city of Atlanta.

The issue that came to is my internet went down for 3 days and couldn't get it up again until Comcast could come out to fix the issue. The guest stay for 6  days but got a solution until Comcast could fix the issue with a Hotspot from Comcast XfinityWifi. We I knew this ahead of time because it would only be down for an hour until Comcast could really fix the issue. The guest didn't make a big deal out of it until they left and request a refund of $20 a day to help them with paying their data they needed to use for internet. I'm somewhat not surprise for some refund but $20 a day is outrageous. I can understand $2 to $5 a day off but $20, it's something that they want 2 days free. I know hotel does give this type of refund.

What should I do about this?

I would offer what it costs them to do have it and chuck it up to bad luck, that is if WiFi was listed as a feature they should have dependent on. To many, nowadays having the Internet is very important. I know, hurts but is a rare event.

$80 for a refund for the internet day is crazy.. Hotels doesn't do this stuff. Just offer them some money back maybe $5 a day.

$80 is what they want, but what was their actual cost?

That I don't know. They were from Canada. My friend that manage airbnbs told me that not give anything because I offer a really cheap place to stay. I will most likely get a bad review because of the internet even if I give that refund comes to $74.64 for overcharge.

He told me that if it was really that important then they should had ask to terminate the stay on the day the internet was done.

Plus the person already review me before I got the request for the refund. But I'm going to not refund nothing and move on from this experience and take the bad review because even if I give any money back that review stand.

But I did learn to get around this if my internet goes down again.

@Richard2715 If / when Airbnb get involved they typically refund 30% for loss of internet.
