Heavy Duty Dishwasher?

Hello!

One of my dishwashers recently died.  The handyman remarked at the food and debris the guests had put in with their dishes and suggested I get a heavy duty dishwasher that had its own grinder.  I couldn't find such a thing at the home improvement store.

1) any recommendations?

2) do guests not know how to use a dishwasher or do they just not care?

@David8433  I have never had a dishwasher. Whenever I go visit my daughter, I have to ask her to remind me what buttons to press. I would wash the dishes by hand if the host left no instructions.

@David8433   Some guests seem to come from outer space and are clueless as to appliance use.  We had a wonderful Bosch dishwasher in our vacation home until a guest put a bristle brush down it.  We now install less expensive, simple, mid-range dishwashers in our properties.  We service them twice a year, i.e., pull out the spinners, traps and screens and blow out or replace the water and drain lines.  Similarly we clean out the sink u-traps and snake the drains (kitchen and bathrooms) twice a year.  With this maintenance we have avoided most dishwasher issues.

With that said, we have one property that has had 4 dishwashers, 3 refrigerators, 2 ovens and 3 sets of washer/dryers in 10 years.  We have yet to figure out why certain guest group demographics are so hard on appliances.   We continue to accept them, but fear them.

Yes, maintenance--that's something I can do except for replacing lines.  Lie yours, our latest dishwasher is mid-range.  But I purchased extended warranty (which I usually never buy) so if there's trouble I can at least have someone come out and try to fix it.
